The Food Ministry of Good Shepherd continues to respond to the growing hunger in our communities in south Brooklyn.
From the very beginning of the pandemic, we the faith community of Good Shepherd, opened our doors to our neighbors and we have not closed them since. We immediately activated our mutual aid networks and began partnering with North Brooklyn Angels (www.northbrooklynangels.org) and Holding Hands Ministry ((20+) Holding Hands Ministries | Facebook). We have also expanded other fruitful partnerships, including one with the Tacombi Community Kitchen (https://donorbox.org/tacombi-community-kitchen), which brings meals three times a week to our church and we in turn work with neighbors to bring those meals to those too vulnerable to leave their homes.
We have now expanded our partnerships to include three grass-roots kitchen collectives as we resource their kitchens to fulfill their mission: to bring quality, nutritious food to the most vulnerable in our communities.
Now we serve warm meals to more than eight hundred persons and distribute care packages to about six hundred families every week. We are cooking daily for all those who come for respite and sanctuary. We need cooks and people that can help us.
If you or anybody you know can help us either raise funds for or donate needed equipment and provision, please contact us.
