Good Shepherd Continues to host Successful Blood Drives

On Monday August 9th and Monday August 30th, Good Shepherd Church hosted highly successful blood drives with the New York Blood Center. At these blood drives, 110 donors attempted to donate, resulting in 291lifesaving blood donations. These lifesaving missions are critical during this time of crisis, when every donation is vital!
Good Shepherd Church will continue to organize and host blood drives every month for as long as they are needed. Blood Drive Results:

The Dorothy Day Community Kitchen is Almost Ready!
And it's looking beautiful! The cabinets have been installed, the painting is finished and a new floor has been installed. All that's needed now is the right equipment. We still need a stove, refrigerators, and ovens, among other items.
Please help us finish the job!

Good Shepherd Church is proud to offer hybrid worship services, which enable our community to worship together remotely, via Zoom, or join us in-person in the church sanctuary.
All appropriate pandemic safety guidelines were observed and the fellowship hour that followed included coffee and snacks -- a true communion of the spirit. We will continue to offer hybrid services until such time as it it is safe to open fully, which we all pray will be soon. Food Ministry Update
The Food Ministry of Good Shepherd continues to respond to the growing hunger in our communities in south Brooklyn.
From the very beginning of the pandemic, we, the faith community of Good Shepherd, opened our doors to our neighbors and we have not closed them since. We immediately partnered with North Brooklyn Angels (www.northbrooklynangels.org), a non-profit organization that has been feeding meals to the community since 2017. They, in turn, have facilitated other fruitful partnerships, including one with the Tacombi Community Kitchen (https://donorbox.org/tacombi-community-kitchen), Which brings meals twice a week to those too vulnerable to leave their homes...
We have now expanded our partnerships to include three grass-roots kitchen collectives that utilize our kitchen to fulfill their mission: bring quality, nutritious food to the most vulnerable in our communities.
Now . we serve meals to more than 800 people every week. Given the demand, we need to update our Dorothy Day Community Kitchen. We are in need of refrigeration, two 36-inch Viking stoves, an oven, sinks, two 8-foot stainless steel tables and other items so that we can continue to do the work. We also need a community refrigerator that will be placed in the front of our grounds for those who need food and walk by.
If you or anybody you know can help us either raise funds for or donate needed equipment, please contact us.

Good Shepherd Church Continues to Host Vital Blood Drives.

On Monday July 19th and Monday July 26th, Good Shepherd Church hosted highly successful blood drives with the New York Blood Center. At these blood drives, 78 donors attempted to donate, resulting in 69 lifesaving blood donations. These lifesaving missions are critical during this time of crisis, when every donation is vital!

On Monday, May 17, 2021. Good Shepherd hosted a NYBC blood drive that drew 52 donors resulting in 53 lifesaving blood donations. Organizing a blood drive takes tremendous creativity and dedication and our blood drive occurred at a time when every donation is vital! Since Good Shepherd began hosting drives in November, 2020, we have collected 461 pints of blood, which enabled the New York Blood Center to help save 1,383 lives in our community.
